Countdown to the visit of the pilgrim of the Virgen de los Desamparados to Benidorm
The image will arrive on a ship, as it did 70 years ago that of the Suffrage, and will remain a week in the city
The city of Benidorm is preparing to receive this Sunday, September 16, the patron saint of València, the Mare de Déu dels Desamparats.
This visit will last for a week and coincides with the celebration of the “Holy Year of Vicentino” -of which the parish of San Jaime and Santa Ana is a jubilee temple- and with the 70th anniversary of the journey of the Virgin of Suffrage to the capital of Túria.
The Municipal Technical Services began yesterday in the Plaza Sus Majestades Reyes of Spain the assembly of the infrastructure for the celebration of the Eucharist, for which the attendance of more than a thousand people is expected.
In this regard, the councilman of Fiestas, Jesus Carrobles, advanced that “buses will travel to Benidorm from València and some locations of the Marina Baixa.”
Carrobles also recalled that the visit and all the events that accompany it are organized by the parish community of San Jaime and Santa Ana with the collaboration of the City Council, the Waitresses of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, the ARC La Barqueta and the Commission of Major Festivities.
The Mare de Déu dels Desamparats will arrive to the city by boat, specifically on board the “Bay of Benidorm” and accompanied by the patrol boat “Toralla”, from the Naval Base of Cartagena.
After his arrival in port, where he will be received by the image of the Virgin of Suffrage, the Bishop of the Diocese of Orihuela-Alicante will officiate the mass under the City Council, after which there will be a pilgrimage to the parish of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
