The appointment, which starts today, is marked this year by the decline of British visitors to the destinations of the Community.

Thus, compared to the good results recorded in 2017 , when the arrival of British tourists to the Valencian Community increased by 14.6%, this year, however, there has been a slight decrease .

In fact, between January and September of 2018, the British issuer has made fewer trips to the Valencian coast, with a 1.4% fall percentage.

Some data of descent that in a place like Benidorm , where the British market is key for the tourism industry, already represent a loss of 420,000 stays compared to 2017. Around a 9% drop.

To all this, we must add that destinations such as Antalya, which competes within the sun and beach segment and faces directly the city of skyscrapers, has already experienced significant growth in air capacity for the next high season while the province of Alicante maintains similar data to the last year.

That is why this year the regional tourism department, headed by the socialist Francesc Colomer, has doubled its presence in the largest tourism fair in the United Kingdom.

Specifically, this edition the stand of the Valencian Community has an area of ​​287 square meters, 45% more than in the previous appointment, where it was available 210 square meters under the Turespaña umbrella.

Diversify the offer
Thus, for the first time, it has opted to have different spaces within the exhibitor for tourism products such as cultural tourism, sports, active, nature, festivals or gastronomy , as noted Colomer.

The objective is to show touroperators and other agents of the sector the wide range of activities for travelers that cities like Benidorm have.

“The intention is to increase the seasonality and increase the diversification of British demand for new tourism products, such as cultural and urban tourism, active tourism, sports, gastronomic tourism or nautical, among others,” said Colomer, who explained that another of the novelties are talks to professionals and media assistants, to reinforce the idea of ​​the diversity of the Valencian tourist offer in the British market.

At the stand of the Community a total of 50 copexpositores will participate where the six tourist brands stand out: Alicante City Tourist Board, Visit Benidorm, Castellón Spain, Costablanca, Valencia Province and Valencia Tourism.
