The province receives two million tourists along the “bridge”

The bulk of visitors comes from other areas of Spain, so most of the trips are provided by road, with 1.6 million movements

Yesterday you could already tell at the airport the passenger traffic that these days leave or arrive in Alicante.

With spring temperatures and two holidays ahead, the province of Alicante is preparing to receive a flood of tourists on the “bridge” of the Constitution and the Immaculate that starts today.

Most of these visitors come from other Spanish provinces, so it is on the road where the greatest activity is expected.

The Directorate General of Traffic provides in this sense that on the roads of the province there are 1.6 million journeys during these days and 3.5 in the whole of the Community.

The moments of greatest intensity are expected today, from 10 to 14 hours; tomorrow, from 4 to 9 pm and Sunday from 10 to 14 and from 4 to 9 pm.

In the province of Alicante the most conflictive stretches are the A-70, in the accesses and exits of the ring road of Alicante. Also the National 332, in the access to Altea, to El Altet-Santa Pola and coast and in the accesses to Torrevieja.

Train reinforcement
By land, in this case by train, the activity is also expected to be intense in the coming days. To this end, Renfe offers 6,000 additional places on high-speed and long-distance trains to and from the province of Alicante during «the bridge» in December.

As they explained yesterday from Renfe, the operation began yesterday with a reinforced offer in all the corridors of high speed (AVE and Alvia) and long distance. The global offer exceeds 75,000 places.

More in detail, the supply of AVE trains linking Madrid and Alicante with 3,300 additional seats is reinforced. As regards the Mediterranean Corridor, the connections from Barcelona to Alicante are reinforced. Stresses the circulation of Talgo and Euromed trains with the doubled offer.

The total offer in the long distance services that circulate between both cities has been reinforced with 2,800 extra seats.

The supply of medium-distance trains to and from the province of Alicante will be reinforced during this “bridge”. These services increase their overall offer by 15 percent on December 9 to ensure mobility at intermediate stations.

Finally, at the airport in Alicante , these four days do not represent a special increase compared to other weeks at this time, since it is a bridge that is enjoyed only in Spain and national tourism moves more by road.

All in all, at the airport in Alicante, 1,159 flights have been scheduled between Wednesday and Monday, distributed 50% to and from Alicante, which will involve a movement of nearly 200,000 passengers.

90% of these flights come from foreign countries, especially from the United Kingdom. The day with the largest passenger traffic will be Saturday, when 223 flights with 37,549 passengers have been scheduled.

From Aena remember that the forecast for this winter is very good at Alicante airport, with an increase of passengers of 13.5% compared to the same season last year.

On the other hand, the meteorological forecasts point to a “bridge” in which high temperatures will be the keynote, with maximums that will reach 20 degrees in coastal towns and with no rain.
