The British star scooped the Best Actress award for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite, while co-star Rachel Weisz won Supporting Actress.

But The Favourite, which took home seven of the twelve awards it was nominated for, actually lost out to Roma for Best Film.

Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, won the Best Actor gong.

Joanna Lumley was back as host of the awards ceremony for the second year running, after she replaced veteran host Stephen Fry in 2018.
