There Is A Right Way To Hang Your Loo Roll

If you’ve ever sat and contemplated which way is the right way to hang toilet roll, we have some good news.

Australian consumer organisation, CHOICE, has set the record straight, revealing the answer to the age-old conundrum.

The company – who came across a 128-year-old diagram of exactly how toilet paper should be hung – have confirmed that the paper should sit over the roll.

Dated in September 1891, it seems hanging “over” is how toilet paper was intended to be used.

The company took to Facebook to report the findings, explaining their fearless approach to “finding truth in the most complex consumer concerns” prompted them to reveal the truth.

“Perforated toilet paper was invented in 1871 by Seth Wheeler. He subsequently re-patented his invention in roll form in 1891,” CHOICE wrote on its website.

“His patent application includes detailed diagrams that clearly show the paper going up and over the roll, not under.

“So placing your toilet paper overhand is using this wonder product precisely as its creator intended.”
